The Unpredictable Worshipper

"It was the week leading up to the Cross, and the strain was taking its toll on Jesus. Surrounded by harsh, negative attitudes and awaiting betrayal, the pressure intensified every day. The most profound and simplistic way to discribe this kind of worshipper is to say that they always approach the act of worshipping with freshness and with a heart that expects to be surprised by their encounter with God. "Worship is meant to be…an exciting meeting place where love is given and received in an unscripted manner." Suficid to say this does not mean that we happhazardly approach worship without form or even tradition. Tradition can be good and can bring reassurance and reminders to the worshipper. Structure and form to the worship service is good, but it cannot be void of passion, awareness or spontenaity. The truth is that "there can never be a substitute for the Holy Spirit of God. If He's not involved, we'll know it, and no amount of good musicianship or skillful arrangements will ever be able to fill that gap."
Your role as a part of the Worship Department of this church is to first seek after God passionately, to be pursuing and strenthening your relationship with Him through study of His word, fellowship with His body (the Church) and intimate communication (prayer) with Him; to worship Him privately, with song, words & actions; and also to come ready to worship Him like crazy corporately. Your role is an important one, and one that must be entered into with an excitement and expectancy, both to be, and experience, the unpredictable.
"God is seeking worshippers who will be ready to follow the adventurous whispers of His Holy Spirit. These are the true worship leaders--people who, with their lives, and when they gather together, keep alive the romance of the first love with hearts that are always ready for the unpredictable".
