The Unveiled Worshipper

By Julia Fowler, Worship Arts Pastor

Based on the book The Unquenchable Worshipper by Matt Redman

"At the end of Exodus 34, Moses comes down from Mount Sinai after a powerful encounter with the Living God.  He was ushered into an incredible level of revelation so deep into the heart of God's glory that his face was actually shining.  His face was so radiant, in fact, that the people were afraid even to look at him.  From that time on, Moses wore a veil to cover up His face. "But whenever He entered the Lord's presence to speak with Him, he removed the veil until he came out. (verse 34)

This has to be one of my favorite moments in scripture.  I can just see it in blockbuster details, this picture of Moses descending from the mountain.  Those on the ground or further down the mountain must have been filled with curiosity about this strange glowing object moving down and in their direction.  I can only imagine what they might have been feeling as they begin to wrestle with what their eyes see of the light and Moses figure.  "It sure looks like Moses' cloak", "yeah, and that's Moses staff", "but where is all that light coming from around him".  Imagine their astonishment when that didn't fade; it wasn't a glare from the sun; it was the light of the Son.   Moses was burnt up in this close encounter with the Lord.

Bottom line is that God wants us to have a close encounter with him to. He desires and expects that when we sincerely meet with Him, that we will be so touched by His glory that it will not only invade every fiber of our insides, but our outsides too.

Just like Moses, when we encounter Christ He'll leave His mark of glory on us.
