Behold the Lamb of God

My devotions this afternoon have been blessed with moments of tearfulness. I've reflected today over Jesus journey towards
I've been working the past couple of weeks on a special song with Aaron Brawner and Tim Nordstrom. The song is written by the composer Andrew Peterson. Its melody and accompaniment are both simplistic; lots of strings, soothing in tone. But its words are captivating when they are considered.
To behold something, is not merely to gaze in its direction or simply to view its content, it is a much more insightful reflection. Beholding requires that the individual observe through sight what is beyond the appearance of something; it is the ability to perceive much more than what is obviously being viewed.
In light of this definition, I ask you to consider the words of this song. Search yourselves and consider whether you are merely seeing, or more insightfully perceiving the Lamb of God.
Behold, the Lamb of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold the Lamb of God
The life and light of men
Behold the Lamb of God
Who died and rose again
Behold the Lamb of God who comes
To take away our sin
Broken hearts--Behold our broken hearts
Fallen far--we need you
Behold the sin of man
Chorus
Behold, the Lamb of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold the Lamb of God
The life and light of men
Behold the Lamb of God
Who died and rose again
Behold the Lamb of God who comes
To take away our sin
Son of God--Emmanuel
Son of Man--we praise you
Behold the Lamb
The hope of man
Behold the Lamb of God
